RUTANDA™
At times, you may feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward.
Rutanda offers a clear and steady path to reconnect with yourself – physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually.
What Rutanda Is
Rutanda is a path of renewal that deepens your connection with yourself and life around you.
The word Rutanda means to purify within and unify with life itself.
How it Works
Rutanda begins with a simple, guided meditation that prepares your awareness, followed by sequences of intentional movement.
Each pose carries idealized meaning, and together they form a progression through stages of life. As you move, you are not simply exercising. You are expressing your life experience in the body, allowing awareness to deepen.
Through this process, awareness naturally deepens. You may begin to notice sensations and emotions rising in the body, allowing for a sense of release and renewal.
Rooted in principles drawn from indigenous Japanese thought, the process becomes spiritually enlivened over time, deepening both understanding and experience.
How It Is Practiced
A complete cycle of Rutanda takes approximately 20 minutes and moves through two sets of sequences.
Rather than learning everything at once, the practice is introduced step by step. In the first eight-week program, you are guided through:
- a foundational three-step meditation
- six movement sequences
- key principles that support your understanding
This structured approach allows the practice to become integrated naturally and steadily into your life. Rutanda meets you where you are, offering variations and alternatives so that the movements can be adapted to your individual needs.
What It Supports
Rutanda supports well-being on every level — physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.

Physical Vitality
Movement becomes natural and engaging. As you move through the sequences, your body begins to tone, coordinate, and move more freely in a way that feels integrated rather than forced. Energy increases, and your connection with your physical self deepens.

Mental Clarity
The sequences engage both body and mind, strengthening awareness in the body and supporting focused thinking in daily life.
As patterns become familiar, coordination improves and focus sharpens. Over time, thought patterns begin to take shape in supportive ways that enhance your daily life.

Emotional Freedom
As movement and awareness come together, you may begin to notice sensations and emotions rising in the body, allowing for a sense of release and renewal. Rutanda allows these to be acknowledged and released without force, creating space for greater ease and lightness. This process unfolds naturally, supported by a strong, compassionate structure.

Spiritual Connection
Through its simple meditative foundation, Rutanda supports a direct and personal connection with something greater, without requiring belief or doctrine. As conditioned patterns soften, a sense of gratitude, presence, and inner steadiness naturally emerges.

What Rutundis Say
“The Rutanda ritual, movements, and intentions do a surprisingly effective job of focusing and energizing me. When I finish Rutanda, then sit down to meditate, I do so with a combination of greater intensity and deeper calm. My mind is slower and less eager to lead me off into some train of extraneous thought. If you’re interested in lifting your consciousness beyond this physical plane, and wherever you are on whatever path, I recommend Era Martin and Rutanda for guidance and fuel.” Steve – Translator, Peace Activist, & Farmer

“I was always searching—reading hundreds of books, practicing yoga, meditating, doing other programs—yet nothing truly stuck. Each effort taught me a little something, but I still felt more was needed. Rutanda allows me to feel deep, dormant emotions in my body as I connect so naturally with the movements. With Era’s guidance, I not only recognized – but also released – emotions I didn’t even know were there! This practice has brought greater presence and wisdom into my daily life – a power I love and want to grow into even stronger. I am able to express what is deep in my heart now, and that helped me let go of anxiety I previously felt. Once I committed to practicing Rutanda, I could feel the baby steps of growth happening within me each day.” Spring – Restaurateur

“As I embodied each pose’s intentions, they changed me in positive ways. I have a newfound connection to spirituality beyond dogma or empty ritual. Rutanda offers a living, breathing, and moving relationship to what Era refers to as the Visible and Invisible Realms through my body and mind. … The inherent power of Rutanda came to life within me organically, like seeds being watered. I gained a great appreciation of Era as a master teacher who possesses a pure spirit and deep intuition for what each student needs from within the form. I see how Rutanda can facilitate our emotional, mental, and spiritual growth as we deepen our embodiment and concentration. What helps me to open to Rutanda as a spiritual movement practice is that I don’t have to espouse a particular belief, path, or fake any greater capacity than I possess. It offers a gentle means for growth, understanding, and acceptance of myself as a creature of nature who is undergoing a life cycle. It helps me to prepare for what lies ahead and to accept what has come before with less judgment. There is an abundant wholeness contained within Rutanda to be explored which has answered a longing, and I am very grateful.” Martha – Certified Laban Movement Analyst and Certified Rolfer
