Era Martin
Born in southwest Michigan, I grew up nourished by the beauty of Lake Michigan, my grandparents’ farm, and the lush surrounding woods. My roots are deeply grounded in Nature, shaping my lifelong pursuit of harmony, wisdom, and healing.
My journey—from jazz singer to global explorer—spanned 22 years across Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Indonesia, China, Taiwan, and Japan, driven by a passion for cultural understanding and spiritual growth. Along the way, I studied massage therapy, Chinese medicinal theory, Tai Ji Ch’uan, and Qigong, deepening my knowledge of holistic well-being.
Indonesia became especially close to my heart, where I co-founded the Kayu Pasak Education Scholarship Program, an NGO supporting West Sumatran village children, which I continue to co-direct. My commitment to cross-cultural connection and world peace earned me permanent residency in Japan, where I contributed to international memorial gatherings in Hiroshima and beyond.
Through years of dedicated study under two traditional Japanese masters, I deepened my understanding of their spiritual teachings. It was during a series of profound meditations that I discovered Rutanda, a practice synthesizing mindful movement and inner transformation. After this realization, my masters recognized me as part of their important spiritual lineage, and I began working alongside them. I later became the only disciple granted permission to instruct meditation. Rutanda has since become my life’s work, and I’ve compassionately taught it in Japan, Taiwan, and now online, helping others reconnect with their essence.
With a Master of Education degree, I bring more than 20 years of expertise in course development, ensuring that my teachings are structured to support deep learning and personal transformation. A certification in health & wellness approved by the National Board for Health and Wellness Coaching in the United States has further enriched my offerings, empowering individuals on their personal journey.
I am a contributing author of VISIONARY: The Future Belongs to Those Who Can See in the Dark, a #1 Amazon bestseller in multiple countries. My solo book, Rutanda: Return to Your Essence through Meditative Yoga Movement, lays the foundation for this transformative practice. I am currently completing Seated Rutanda, designed for those who exercise in a chair, wheelchair, or on the floor. A book on the Divine Natural Path and a spiritual memoir are also in progress.
